Overview of the foundational hierarchy of development will be provided. Use of the hierarchy model to guide treatment will be analyzed. Informal assessment techniques to identify areas of weakness will be reviewed. Practitioners will learn to conduct treatment sessions that will help build their clients foundational skills necessary for skill acquisition and long-term future success.  One case study will be reviewed to illustrate use of the hierarchy model. Suggestions for varied treatment modalities and strategies within the foundational developmental hierarchy will be demonstrated for that case study. Fraida Flaishman, PhD, OTR/L

Fraida Flaishman is a pediatric occupational therapist residing in Brooklyn N.Y. She graduated from New York University in 1995 with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy and currently holds a Ph.D. from Capella University. Fraida works as the therapy supervisor at Yaldeinu a school for children with autism and related disabilities. Fraida runs a private practice and works as adjunct faculty for the Touro College Occupational therapy program. Fraida provides school-based consultation as well as mentorship and supervision, lectures, conducts evaluations and provides treatment planning information for families. Fraida is the creator of the DVD Child Development series Baby Instructions that includes information on appropriate stimulation for infant and toddler development. Specialty certifications include, Sensory Integration and Praxis Testing, MEDEK, Therasuit, Infant Massage Instruction, Aquatic Exercise Instruction, Irlen Screening, CPI Trainer, and more. Fraida has completed research in the area of clinical genetic services and reflex integration in school age children as well as the special needs populations.
