Course Schedule

LIVE On-Line Webinar
8:00 am – 3:00 pm EST

8:00 am- 9:30 am – What’s the Real Problem
Often our pediatric client’s parents or teachers bring a list of things the child ‘should’ be doing, but that’s not where the problem begins. And the key to accurately solving a problem, ANY problem is identification of the real issue. Without this, treatment and outcomes can be derailed. In this segment, we will focus on how to interpret what they are saying to get to the depth of the problem so we can transfer their concerns into a functional client-centered goal that matters.

9:30-9:45 am – Break

9:45- 11:30 – Increased eye contact is NOT a goal!
What??? Really! I thought that was a goal. While a caregiver may say this, eye contact is not a functional outcome, it’s a component. This segment of the class focuses on clarifying components of a goal versus functional goals, communicating with clients and collaborating with the caregiver so that the clinician can be clear about what it takes to write a meaningful, client-centered, functional goal.

11:30-12:15 pm – Lunch

12:15 – 1:45 – Getting It Write
With a clear understanding of the real problem and knowledge of what is needed, in this segment the learner will put it together to practice writing, modifying and adapting functional goals that are client-centered, objective and measurable.

1:45 – 3:00 – Reimbursable Goals and Q&A
Focus is on writing functional goals that makes a difference, that matters to the client and and gets you paid.
